Joram is one of the five finalists in the competition, which requires one hundred percent plant-based cooking. Participants are allowed to bring their own ingredients, but these must not undergo industrial processing. The chefs must be able to show their recipes to the jury members.
Joram received a wild card from the organization to participate. The other wild card went to Lieven Lootens of Restaurant ’t Aards Paradijs in Deinze, Belgium.
The other three finalists for the Green Chef’s Hat come from a preliminary round held at the Horecava. They are Yornie van Dijk from the Basiliek* in Harderwijk, Youri Hiemstra from Oan Tafel in Wergea, Friesland, and Timoti Jongsma from De Nieuwe Winkel** in Nijmegen.
The Gastronomisch Gilde organizes the plant-based cooking competition together with 'We’re Smart.' According to the Gastronomisch Gilde, this gives the competition an international flavor with an international finalist. 'We’re Smart' is an organization that brings together parties that work in a healthy, ecological, and sustainable way, both in the food sector and beyond.
